In all five the interior and the exterior walls have been adorned with traditional Orthodox frescoes painted in Byzantine style, which makes them unique from the other Orthodox churches. The mystery and the uniqueness of the paintings come from the outside frescoes which stayed unchanged for 500 years.

A new tradition waits for us today and a very different one. In a particular place in Bacau county, exactly in Darmanesti, people still perform the very ancient Bear Dance. Groups of people from different villages called “cete” present their bears, irods, masks and drums.
It is also the day when all the masks and ‘goats’ are out on the street, passing from a house to another. They all celebrate a new year coming.
